Small Grants for Small Food Pantries at Adirondack Community Foundation makes grants available to food pantries to help with infrastructure and long-term improvements that allow them to provide more fresh food options and better support volunteers. One-time grants of up to $1,500 per pantry may be used to upgrade equipment or technology, provide volunteer training, or improve signage and displays to help people choose better options.

To submit an application please use our Online Grants Manager.
- The fund is available to any food pantry or emergency food provider operated by a nonprofit organization or municipality located in the Adirondack region, defined for this purpose as all of Clinton, Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties as well as the parts of St. Lawrence, Warren, Washington, Lewis, Fulton, Herkimer, and Saratoga counties within the Adirondack Park boundary as well as the Akwesasne Saint Regis Mohawk Reservation.
- This grant covers infrastructure-related costs that improve the function of our pantries (freezers/refrigerators, educational signage, shelving, technology upgrades, volunteer training) to increase volunteer engagement and promote healthy eating. Food purchases are not eligible.
- Grant maximum is $1,500. Organizations are eligible to apply once per fiscal year.
- If you are a large organization which manages several food pantries, please submit separate applications for the needs of each location.
- Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Steps to Follow

Application Process

1. Read the above to determine your eligibility.

2. Create an Online Grants Manager account in preparation to submit your application.

3. Complete and submit your application.

4. Wait to hear if your application was approved and if so, contact the appropriate agency referenced in your approval notification to receive your grant funds

5. Promote your grant.

For those applicants who have been notified that they’ve received funding, you can access our Grantee Resources portal, where you’ll find sample press releases, sample social media posts, various versions of our logo, and other tools to help you share the good news. Don’t forget to tag us in your communications so that we can amplify your good work on our own digital channels.

6. Complete follow-up survey if needed.

Recipients of Small Grants for Small Food Pantries may periodically be asked to complete a follow-up survey about the impact your grant had on your child care program. You may be contacted via email to complete this survey.
